A little preparation makes it much easier to decide whether a secondhand piece is right for you. Start with your space, then ask the questions that a photograph cannot answer.

01

Measure twice, including the way in

Note the available width, depth and height. Measure doorways, corners and any stairs along the route. Remember to leave room to open drawers and pull out chairs.

02

Ask for the details

Request current photographs, measurements and a clear description of condition. Look for joints, undersides, backs and any wear that is not visible in the main image.

03

Confirm the full arrangement

Before committing, confirm the price, what is included and how the item will reach you. Collection or delivery arrangements should be agreed for the particular piece.

04

Take your time with the decision

Consider comfort, scale and practical use as well as appearance. If there is something you are unsure about, ask before agreeing to buy.

A little thought. A little character.
A home that feels like you.
